Do you want to remove car carpet stains?

Unsightly huh?

Spill your coffee or soda? Spoiled milk from the kids?

Whatever it is there is more than likely a solution toto remove car carpet stains in your vehicles interior.

This is a step by step guide on how to approach the most common stains in your vehicle.

Gather your chemicals and tools

We specialize in this type of work with our auto detailing business and have plenty of professional experience, tools, and chemicals to get just about any job done.

With that being said, we have all the information to get your stain removal started.

Find the proper tools chemical at your local Walmart or auto parts store. If there is a local detailing shop that’s even better.

Here are a few items that will most definitely be needed to achieve the removal of car carpet stains

Item 1: An apc or dedicated interior cleaner. You can find these cleaners for under $10

Item 2: You want something to agitate your cleaner with. A brush would be the best option but you can use just a microfiber towel.

Item 3: Microfiber towels. These types of towels are used to mop up the interior cleaner after the agitation process.

Item 4: A vacuum. Although this tool is not 100 percent necessary, you want this tool as it can serve many different purposes.

When it comes to your items., dont overthink the product or chemicals. Mostly anything will do if you consider the appropriate cleaning process.

As an example your process should look like this

Vac > Spray chemical > Agitate > towel mop up > Inspect progress > Repeat if needed.

With that being said, let’s go for a step by step approach with details.

Step #1: Vacuum each area that your expecting to clean

If you look at the process logically, you don’t want any dirt or debris getting in the way of your shampoo process.

If you don’t have a Vacuum, then you can either use a towel to pick up dirt & debris or you can use a brush to sweep the debris into a designated area and pick it up later with your hand or towel.

Step #2: Spray your Cleaner and Agitate the Stain

The best approach to this is to understand how big the stain is and how to approach it.

You want to ensure that you’re getting the most out of your product so if it’s a large area, break it up into sections. This way your product won’t dry up and you’re being as effective as possible.

Once you’ve decided how to approach the stain, spray your chemical and let it sit for 3-10 seconds. (make sure you dont over saturate the stain with chemical)

Once the chemical has sat and broken up the stain in the fibers, you can begin agitating.

Next agitate with light to medium pressure at first to ensure you don’t further damage the fibers in your carpets. Move in a forward and backward motion then a circular motion.

Finally, once you’ve agitated the carpet stain, mop up the cleaner and dirt as soon as you can.

The Mopping part will lift the dirt up out of the fiber and reveal a clean surface.

Now, not always does the first pass clean up every bit of the stain. You will want to inspect the carpets.

Step #3: The Inspection

What’s the stain looking like?

Did it come out or look any better than previously?

If it looks better and you’re satisfied with the result, then that’s awesome! Time to let it dry.

If you notice that it doesn’t look much better then you’ll need to repeat these steps to achieve desired results.

The stain won’t come out!?

Don’t fret! This happens.

Even in our auto detailing business we have times where we need to take a different approach.

Maybe stronger chemical, more pressure while agitating carpet stains, or even a different chemical.

A different chemical? Yes, sometimes particular stains carry protein enzymes in them and can be difficult to clean without an enzyme based cleaner.

Or maybe you spilled coffee years ago and the stain has settled  so far deep into the fibers that it simply cannot be removed.

You can always make the stain look better but sometimes it’s just too far gone.

Now that you’ve learned how to tackle a stain in your car, give it a try!!
