Paint correction process
Paint correction
Paint correction is the process of leveling down the imperfections in your vehicles factory clear coat.
These imperfections include swirls, scratches, oxidation, etchings, micro marring, and holograms created by improper paint correction knowledge. Paint correction takes your vehicles finish to the next leve by adding insane gloss and increasing longevity of your vehicles factory clear coat.
Prep
The preparation is one of the most important parts of the paint correction process.
In order to reach a desirable finish, It's important to remove any and all vehicle contamination that has bonded to your paint before any correction is done. Below are the steps we take to ensure your paint is properly prepped.
Decontamination
(1). Chemical decontamination;
- Iron fallout: This step is for the industrial fallout, specifically ferrous ion oxide contamination. This type of contamination is caused by brake dust, or other metal fallout that adheres and bonds to your paint. If left unattended too, this fallout can corrode & cause damage to your paint.
- Mineral deposits: This chemical decontamination is dedicated to removing unwanted minerals in your paintwork. a good example of this would be hard that was left to dry in the sun and created leftover mineral deposits that stain your clear coat.
(2). Mechanical Decontamination;
- Clay Bar decontamination. This step is a more commonly known method of decontamination. Clay bar is the process of removing all surface contamination that your wash mitt simply will not pickup. A fine grade clay bar is a great option to minimize unwanted damage. *it is advised not to use a clay bar method on ceramic coated vehicles.
Prep & Paint Protection
1. Before and after polishing, your panels will be wiped down with a dedicated paint prep to ensure all remaining oils and waxes are removed. This allows for a completely clean and residue free surface after prep and before applying your wax/sealant or ceramic coating.
2. Paint protection of your choice is then applied to ensure that your vehicle has a long lasting durable layer to prevent any further pollutants, contamination, etc. from causing damage for months or even years to come.

FAQs
Yes and No. Although most services have mobile options, paint correction is best serviced in our shop due to environmental conditions that can affect paint correction process. If you’d like only a light machine polish, this can be arranged for a mobile detail. Please reach out for more details.
Paint correction can be a lengthy process depending on the condition of your vehicle and the desired results. You can expect a minimum of 6 hours and a maximum of 12.
Paint correction starts with prep. Before we take a machine to your vehicle’s paint we ensure that your vehicle is perfectly prepped. This involves washing and removing all vehicle contamination including chemical and physical contaminants. Your paint must be well prepped in order for the paint correction process to go smoothly. After correction, you can expect absolute clarity in your vehicle’s paint. Your car will shine and look better than it did at the dealership.
The products we use are safe for your interior and the environment. You can expect your interior to smell fresh and clean, not like harsh chemicals.
If the weather calls for rain, snow, sleet, hail, etc. and you have a garage we can work in, then we can still perform your mobile detail (eco-friendly rinse less wash). If not we can make arrangements to either bring your vehicle to our location or re-schedule.
Paint Correction in other words, polishing, compounding, or buffing, is the process of leveling down clear coat to achieve a scratch and swirl free finish.
